today my father received a call from his friend, Variksh Patel. He said he was coming home.
I usually ask for a brief before meeting anyone. Who is he. What does he do. Should I sit with him. Most of the time my father says it is my choice. This time he said I should definitely come and meet him.
That was the first signal.
The conversation started with health. I expected normal advice. Eat less sugar. Walk more. Sleep well. But this man did not stay on the surface. He went deep into the details of nutrition and pre diabetes. He spoke with clarity and structure. No drama. No fear. Just logic.
That is when I noticed something important.
He was not just discussing health. He was solving a problem.
He broke everything into parts. Habits. Diet. Discipline. Patterns. He looked at the root, not the symptoms. In my point of view, that is the sign of a true problem solver.
While he was diving deep, my mind was somewhere else. Completely distracted. At one moment he asked me something and I misunderstood it entirely. I answered something different. That moment felt heavy.
A distracted mind cannot receive sharp wisdom.
As the conversation continued, he started analyzing me. He noticed that I get distracted. That I leave topics when they become complex. That when choices appear, I hesitate.
It was uncomfortable. But honest feedback is gold.
He suggested mala jap to increase attention span. Simple advice. Powerful impact. The man who cannot control his focus cannot control his future.
If I think like Tony Stark, this was a system diagnostic moment. Not building a new suit. Upgrading the operating system.
My biggest regret is that I was not fully open. My mind was cluttered. Next time I want to sit with clarity and ask for more feedback. Growth requires humility.
Some people give you motivation.
Some give you contacts.
Rare ones give you a mirror.
Yesterday, I met one.
And sometimes the biggest innovation is not outside. It is inside.
