The War Ends Only When I Win

8-8-2025 My situation right now is messy.
I’m falling behind.
Not just a little far enough to question whether I’ll even pass 12th.

When this year began, I thought my challenge would be scoring high.
Then I thought it might be avoiding low marks.
Now I’m thinking about survival.

The truth? I’ve been giving my time to my project instead of my studies.
It’s the one thing that excites me every morning, and it’s doing well.
But it’s eating all my hours.

I’m not blaming my school.
It’s one of the best in the city, with over 118 years of history.
The fault is mine. I didn’t adapt. I set the bar too high. I tried to sprint without training for the run.

And yet even in this mess there’s a story that keeps echoing in my head.

It’s from almost 200 years ago, in St. Petersburg the westernmost part of Russia, touched heavily by European culture.
There lived a Jewish scholar, a rabbi, known for his wisdom and unshakable spirit.

One day, a bishop came to him with a question.
“You’ve been fighting for thousands of years. Do you think you will win?”
“Yes,” the rabbi said without hesitation.

The bishop pressed him.
“But you are losing. Your people are dying. You are pushed back again and again. Where is the victory?”
The rabbi replied, “Yes, we are losing. But we will keep fighting.”

Still unsatisfied, the bishop asked one final question.
“When will this war stop?”
The rabbi’s answer was like a stone dropped in still water:
“This war will stop when we win. Until then, the war continues.”

That’s my mindset right now.
I may be losing individual battles exams, assignments, focus but my war isn’t over.
It’s not even close to over.

The end will come only when I win.
Not before.

And until that day, I will keep fighting.
